EXPLORE EVANS HEAD

Looking to recharge your batteries with a healthy dose of salt water, sandy beaches and fresh seafood? Look no further than Evans Head in Northern Rivers on the far North Coast of NSW. Surrounded by national parks, the Evans River and beachside is a little slice of paradise. Water is a way of life in this sleepy town. The calm waters of the estuary that divides the town are ideal for kayaking, canoeing and stand-up paddle boarding. Inexperienced surfers will love Evans Head Beach because it’s protected from the southeast swells that generate big waves elsewhere. In the right conditions, the breakwall creates a good wave.

Adventure

Surrounded by Broadwater and Bandjalung national parks, Evans Head is a natural playground for outdoor adventure. Hikers can trek the 3.3km Gummigurrah walking track to spot koalas, while Razorback Lookout and Goanna Headland offer stunning vantage points for whale watching and exploring local Aboriginal heritage. For water sports, Main Beach serves up sheltered, beginner-friendly waves, while the river estuary and beaches provide excellent fishing and diverse marine wildlife.
